Packing / Moving Supplies

Packing is one of the most time consuming tasks when it comes time to move. You have to take into consideration the way you organize items to ensure unpacking isn’t a nightmare. You also be extra careful with fragile items, so they arrive to your destination in their original condition.

We know how daunting a task like this is, that’s why we offer full packing and unpacking service. We also offer partial packing services, if you want to pack some items on your own.

We also offer moving supplies like boxes, shrink wrap, blankets and more. We are fully equipped to move any item you may have.

Packing Tips:

Before You Begin:

We recommend going through your items to find things you no longer need or intend on taking with you first. This will not only save you unnecessary time packing, but it will also save you money. You can make money by having a garage sale, or help out someone by donating to an organization like the Salvation Army.

If you plan on packing yourself, make sure that you have enough  packing materials like boxes, tape, etc. Remember that we carry all of this, so give us a call for all your packing needs,

Packing 101:

  • Pack your least used items first and your most frequently used items last. Some items won’t be packed up until the night before your move, or even on the day, as part of your final arrangements with us. Prodigy Los Angeles Movers can and will provide a service fully customized around your needs.
  • Before you begin packing, you need to plan the organizing of your packing. Devise a system for tracking your boxes. Some prefer simple descriptions and labels on the side of boxes; others are much more systematic about the whole thing, and use a pad to keep track of items, and a numbering system to keep track of boxes. The more systematic your approach, the easier it is for our movers to make the process a speedy one.
  • Label every box clearly. Make sure you put which room it belongs to, as well as if it has any delicate in. We recommend giving a brief description of the contents of boxes, such as ‘small kitchen appliances’, so you can easily find what you’re looking for when you are unpacking.
  • There will always be that box or two that you want to unpack straight away. Mark these clearly with ‘Open First’ when you label your boxes.
  • In almost every room, there’s likely to be screws, nuts and bolts for different pieces of furniture. Use a sealable freezer bag to keep these items together. Mark the sealed bag with a permanent pen referencing the item the parts belongs to, and place the bag in the appropriate ‘room’ box.
  • Don’t overfill any of your boxes, and finish the box off with tape to make sure it’s secure.
    •   There are certain items you should definitely not pack, these include:

Matches, lighters, vehicle related chemicals, paints and construction chemicals, fireworks, poisons and chemicals, ammunitions and firearms, perishable foods, prescription medication, documents and licenses. Our team will provide a comprehensive list of items you can
